CIS ATC participated in the III international conference on the spread of extremist ideology


Representatives of the CIS ATC took part in the III International Conference on the spread of extremist ideology, organized by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs on September 26, 2023, in Moscow.

The event was attended by the executives of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, representatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau of the Russian MIA, experts from the Office for Public Projects of the Russian Federation President’s Administration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Roskomnadzor, National Anti-Terrorism Committee, employees of educational organizations, guests from over 40 states and international organizations, including SCO RATS, CSTO, BKBOP and others.

The conference was opened by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Police Colonel General A.I. Khrapov, who noted the timeliness of discussion of the spread of extremist ideology.

Representatives of the Republic of Abkhazia, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Republic of India, People's Republic of China, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Republic of Serbia, Syrian Arab Republic, Republic of Sudan, and Republic of Tajikistan made their statements at the conference. The partners assessed the situation in the field of counter-extremism and shared their work experience.

In her statement the CIS ATC’s representative informed about the results of the Center’s work in the field of information, analytical, scientific and methodological support for the activities of the competent authorities of the CIS member-states to counter the spread of extremist and terrorist ideology. She noted the urgent character of combining the efforts of law enforcement agencies and special services to create effective mechanisms to counter extremism in the information space, including promotion of traditional values common to the Commonwealth countries.

The conference participants expressed a common opinion on the increasing use of modern information and communication technologies in order to introduce the extremist ideology into the mass consciousness of people, noted the particular danger of attempts to revive the ideology of Nazism and glorify its followers, and outlined their intention to continue the exchange of best practices in countering the spread of terrorist ideology, prevent the politicization of international police cooperation.
