At the invitation of the Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan the experts of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Centre conducted training sessions for the participants of the 20th staff course of the OSCE Border Management Staff College (BMSC) on 1 March 2018.
The officials from 15 OSCE participating states and partners for cooperation were informed about contemporary forms and methods of terrorist activity and most efficient ways to identify, prevent and suppress such activity.
Within the frameworks of the staff course, a round table on “Transnational threats call for a coordinated response: The role of International Cooperation in enhancing Border Security” was held on 2 March. Among the attendees of the round table besides the CIS ATC’s experts were the participants of the 20th staff course, representatives of the diplomatic missions in Tajikistan and international organizations located in Dushanbe.
This event was the first in a series of three roundtables which, together, aim to serve as a platform to discuss the existing state of affairs, benefits, enablers and hindrances to international cooperation in countering transnational threats at borders, while also promoting free and secure movement of persons, goods, services and investments across borders as well as human treatment of people wanting to cross borders.
The Border Management Staff College was inaugurated in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan on 27 May 2009. As part of the OSCE, the BMSC works to enhance the knowledge of mid-to senior-ranking border security and management officials while promoting greater co-operation and exchange of information among them.
