During the conducted on 21-24 November 2017 within the INTERPOL’s Project KALKAN operation the participants were granted access to INTERPOL data bases to run queries on suspects, high risk individuals, passengers, vehicles and travel documents.
Delegates from 17 Project KALKAN member-states, including Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, India, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Sri-Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, as well as from Ukraine and Thailand came to take part in the operation.
Project Kalkan – meaning Shield in Central Asian countries – is one of several key regional components of Interpol’s multi-region Fusion Task Force, which was created in September 2002 to collect, share and analyze information and intelligence on the terrorist organizations operating in the Central-Asian region.
The CIS ATC and INTERPOL co-operate under the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding in Terms of Co-Operation and Interaction in the Field of Counterterrorism Information Sharing signed in 2008.
CIS Anti-Terrorism Centre enjoys an observer status at the INTERPOL’s General Assemblies. The Centre has an on-line access to the INTERPOL Criminal Information System I-24/7.
