The CIS Anti-Terrorism Center with the support of the State Committee of National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic organized the XIII Regional Expert Consultations of representatives of the counter-terrorism and counter-extremism units of CIS security agencies, special services and law-enforcement authorities in Bishkek on November 23, 2023.
The consultations brought together representatives of the specialized agencies of 5 CIS member-states (Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russian Federation, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Uzbekistan) and CIS ATC experts.
The meeting discussed the trends of the situation development in the CIS states of the Central-Asian region with due regard for the current and emerging security threats. The participants noted that a high level of terror activity in Afghanistan and combat capacities of the terrorists operating in Syria, Iraq and some other states of the Middle East remained the factors affecting the emergence and development of the terrorist threats in the CIS area.
The participants exchanged national practices of countering the efforts of the terrorist organizations to spread radical ideas and suppress the channels used for movement of terror means.
The participants were briefed on the major international events held in Kyrgyzstan this year for the purpose of developing cooperation and building common anti-terror capacities of the CIS ATC and SCO RATS, including joint anti-terrorism exercise “Eurasia-Antiterror – 2023” and the First CIS Conference on combating terrorism and extremism.
