II Expert consultations of the representatives of the counter-terrorism and counter-extremism practice units of the security bodies and special services of the CIS member-states of the Central Asian Region

The CIS ATC's event gathered representatives of experts of the the counter-terrorism and counter-extremism practice units from National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, State Committee of National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, State Committee of National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan, National Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as CIS bodies ¬ including Coordination Service of the Council of the Commanders of the Border Forces and Office for the Coordination of the Fight Against Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Types of Crime on the Territory of CIS member-states.

During the meeting, the experts reviewed a wide range of issues related to changes in the tactics of the terrorist and extremist organizations operating in the region, their links with international terrorist groups and transnational organized crime, forecasted operational situation in the central Asian region amid withdrawal of the International Security Assistance Forces from the Afghanistan.

Special focus was on organization of cooperation and interaction between the security bodies, special services and law enforcement of the CIS member-states in interstate search of persons who committed terrorist and extremist offences and hide from criminal prosecution or judicial sentence execution.

Besides, ways of improvement of efficiency of cooperation between the competent authorities in ensuring CIS security basing on the bilateral and multilateral experience were discussed separately. Preparation and conduct of joint anti-terrorism events in the Central Asian region in 2013 were also on agenda.

The participants of the regional expert consultations adopted an Outcome document.
