GET-TOGETHER OF THE HEADS OF ANTI-TERRORISM UNITS OF THE CIS SECURITY AGENCIES, ARMENIA, 25 - 26 SEPTEMBER 2019

The get-together was organized under the auspices of the CIS ATC in the cooperation with the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia on 25-26 September 2019 in Yerevan.

A two-day event brought together delegations of the security service of eight CIS member-states, including NSS of Armenia, SSC of Belarus, NSC of Kazakhstan, SCNS of Kyrgyzstan, ISS of Moldova, FSS of Russia, SCNS of Tajikistan, SSS of Uzbekistan, as well as CIS Executive Committee and branch cooperation bodies, namely Coordination Service of Border Troops Commanders Council, Office for Coordination of Fight on Organized Crime and Other Serious Crimes in the Territory of the CIS States, Secretariat of the Defense Ministers Council, Council of Penitentiary Service Heads, Council of Financial Intelligence Unit Heads, Committee of Heads of Law-Enforcement Units of the Council of Customs Service Heads, Interstate Aviation Committee.

Within the frameworks of the get-together

· the participants summed up the results of the first stage of the joint anti-terrorism exercise of the CIS competent authorities “Ararat-Antiterror-2019” which was carried out in the territory of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan earlier in September;

· the second and third stages of the exercise were conducted under the leadership of the republican operations center; the special units of the Armenian NSS carried out a counter-terrorism operation intended to release hostages and eliminate simulated terrorists at a FEC facility (CJSC Gazprom Armenia);

· a special operation was conducted with the support of the Armed Forces, Border Troops, Ministry of Emergencies at the joint-force range Bagramyan aimed to isolate and eliminate simulated illegal armed formations and terrorist groups and to recover from the terrorist attack;

· the Scientific and Consultative Council of the CIS ATC held its extended meeting with the participation of representatives of academia and public organizations on “Organization of Protection of Critical Infrastructure Facilities against Terrorist Threats”.
