The chief of the legal support group of the CIS ATC took part in the meetings of the Joint Commission under the CIS IPA on the harmonization of legislation in the field of security and countering new challenges and threats and the CIS IPA Standing Commission on Defense and Security, in St. Petersburg on October 10, 2024.
The meetings reviewed draft amendments to the CIS Model Law “On Counteracting Terrorism” prepared by the CIS ATC, as well as new CIS model laws “On Counteracting the Use of Autonomous and Robotic Systems for Terrorist and Extremist Purposes” and “On Public Safety”.
A number of draft CIS legal acts in the sphere of defense and security were discussed, in particular: Appeal of the IPA CIS Council on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, Information on the activities of the IPA CIS Standing Commission on Defense and Security for 1992-2024, BKBOP and the basic organization of the CIS member-states for the study of problems of countering terrorism and other manifestations of extremism.
The participants also reviewed concepts of new versions of the draft model laws “On criminal intelligence activities” and “On mobilization preparation and mobilization”. Reports were heard on the progress of work on the draft model laws “On territorial defense” and “On navigation support”, as well as Recommendations for the identification, recording and registration of crimes related to human trafficking in the CIS member-states.
The event brought together parliamentarians of the Commonwealth countries, representatives of CIS bodies, educational and scientific organizations.
