A delegation of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center took part in the meetings of the commissions at the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA) on April 13, 2023.
A number of relevant draft laws were reviewed and approved at the meeting of the CIS IPA joint commission for harmonization of legislation in the field of security and counteraction to new challenges and threats. This included a draft CIS model law "On Public Security" elaborated by the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center.
The document addresses a legal gap created by lack of generally accepted definitions of public security that gives rise to contradictions while interpreting this and related terms.
During the meeting the experts approved the Recommendations on improvement of legal regulation in the field of prevention of illegal activity in the maritime territory of the Commonwealth states and draft Recommendations on improvement of legal regulation of operations of border agencies of the CIS states in the field of counter-terrorism.
The meeting of the CIS IPA Standing commission on defense and security approved a draft Amendment to the model criminal code of the CIS member-states regarding liability for terrorism financing, as well as Recommendations for the CIS member-states on prevention and suppression of violations in the field of information-communication technologies.
The chief of the CIS ATC legal support group was awarded a "CIS IPA. 30 years" medal for merits in development of parliamentarism, contribution to the CIS legal framework improvement and strengthening of interparliamentary cooperation.
