The CIS ATC delegation took part in the 41st working group meeting on Afghanistan under the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers held in Moscow on May 13, 2025.
The event was also attended by representatives of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Coordination Service of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.
The meeting discussed the situation in Afghanistan and noted the persistence of negative trends in the socio-economic, humanitarian and security spheres.
While exchanging the views, the members of the working group emphasized that the risks of terrorist threats to the CSTO member-states of the Central Asian region are in place in certain provinces of Afghanistan despite the efforts undertaken by the Afghan authorities to stabilize the situation.
The participants of the event expressed a common opinion on the need for consolidated efforts to stabilize the situation in Afghanistan and confirmed their readiness to assist in coordinating activities to establish peace processes.
