CIS ATC Participates in EAG 41 Plenary Meeting

 
The delegation of the CIS ATC led by its Head, Colonel General Evgeny Sysoev, took part in the 41st Plenary Week of the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (EAG), held in Indore, Republic of India on November 25-29, 2024.
 
The Plenary Week included meetings of specialized working groups, thematic seminars, the EAG Plenary meeting, as well as a ceremonial award ceremony in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Group.
 
The events were attended by representatives of 9 EAG member states, FATF and FATF-style regional bodies (MENAFATF, ESAAMLG), as well as the EAG observers and invited delegations, including Armenia, Iran, USA, Japan, CIS ATC, EEC, CIS Executive Committee, IMF, NBR, CIS-FIU, SCO, Azerbaijan, Nepal, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka.
 
The meetings offered an opportunity to discuss topical issues of cooperation in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing, including measures to minimize the resource base of terrorism amid the development of methods and techniques of its financing. The Plenary meeting adopted a decision to grant the UAE the status of EAG observer.
 
In his statement, the Head of the Center positively assessed the results of 10-year cooperation between the CIS ATC and the EAG based on the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2014.
 
In addition, Evgeny Sysoev informed the participants about the joint conduct of typological studies on the topics of counteracting the financing of the involvement of individuals in terrorist and extremist activities, identifying individuals who assist terrorist organizations by purchasing tickets for terrorist fighters, monitoring the risks of criminal use of virtual assets and other areas of activity, as well as the joint preparation of a methodological publication titled "EAG Guidelines for Conducting Financial Investigations in the Sphere of Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing."
