A representative of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center took part in the 39th Working Group Meeting on Afghanistan at CSTO Council of Minister of Foreign Affairs in Moscow on April 10, 2024.
The event was attended by the delegation of Belorussia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Coordinating Service of Border Troops Commanders’ Council, SCO Regional antiterrorism structure, UN agencies (UNOCT, UNRCCA), International Committee of the Red Cross.
The participants discussed the situation in Afghanistan highlighting the maintained negative trends in the security sphere. They noted the consistent risks of terrorist and drug threats to the CSTO member-states of the Central Asian region.
The CIS ATC’s representative briefed on the impact of activities of the terrorist, extremist organizations and illegal armed groups on the situation in the CIS member-states.
The CSTO member-states’ representatives stated mutual opinion on the necessity to consolidate efforts to stabilize the situation in Afghanistan and reaffirmed their readiness to render assistance in coordinating building of peace processes in the country.
