A representative of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center took part in the Regional Workshop on Fostering Cooperation and Information Sharing on Preventing and Combating the Illicit Trafficking of Small-Arms and Light Weapons and Their Illicit Supply to Terrorists, which was organized by the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia and SCO Regional Antiterrorism Structure with the financial support of the Russian Federation on April 9-10, 2024 in Tashkent.
The event brought together delegations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, UN agencies (OCT, UNRCCA, UNODC, UNAMA), regional organizations (CIS ATC, CSTO Secretariat, CICA).
The participants discussed impact of the developments in Afghanistan on the illicit trafficking of small-arms and light weapons (SALW) in the region, ratification and implementation of the international legal framework, as well as participation of the international and regional organizations in development of interstate cooperation among competent, judicial and law-enforcement authorities.
