A representative of the CIS ATC attended the online expert briefing on “Protecting Critical Energy Infrastructure against Terrorist Attacks” organized by the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism in cooperation with the Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate and UN Regional Center of Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia on March 6, 2024.

The event was held in the framework of the project of elaboration of the UN recommendations on anti-terrorist protection of energy infrastructure facilities.

During the briefing the participants were acquainted with the information on the structure of the forthcoming document (key threats and vulnerabilities of the FEC facilities, terrorist use of emerging technologies and unmanned systems, exchange of advanced information, used of computer modelling for risk management, measures to mitigate the threats, including conduct of trainings).

The CIS member-states’ joint anti-terrorist exercise “Ararat-Antiterror” conducted under the CIS ATC’s auspices in the Republic of Armenia in 2019 was referred to as an example of such drills.
