A representative of CIS ATC took part in the Regional workshop for the Sahel on Countering Terrorist Use of Improvised Explosive Devices and Small Arms and Light Weapons organized by the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism on February 28, 2024.
The event was also attended by the experts of CTED, the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), UNIDIR, the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the World Customs Organization (WCO) and other international and regional organizations.
The regional workshop aimed at raising awareness on the threat and risk posed by the supply of SALW and UAVs to terrorists and building capacity of the region’s countries to tackle those threats.
The event provided a platform to discuss the international, regional and national legal framework, norms, standards and good practices related to the prevention of the acquisition and use of IEDs and SALW by terrorists.
During the workshop the Center’s representative presented a report on preventing unlawful use of unmanned aerial systems.
