On December 19, 2023, a representative of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center took part in the Third Regional Conference on the Counter-Terrorism Early-Warning Network for Central Asia organized by the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism and UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.
The event was attended by the representatives of the UN agencies (UNOCT, UNRCCA, Monitoring Team of 1267/1989/2253 and 1988 Sanctions Committees of the UN Security Council, UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, UN Office of Drugs and Crime), delegations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as regional organizations (CIS ATC, SCO RATS, CICA), and civil society institutions (Research Institute for CIS Security Problems).
The participants shared their security assessment for the Central Asian states, the discussion focused on the situation in Afghanistan as a significant factor for stability in the wider region.
The Center’s representative presented a report on the assessment of the situation in the field of countering of terrorism and new challenges for the Commonwealth states and shared the Center’s practice of cooperation with the specialized regional structures.
