CIS ATC participated in CSTO FMC working group on Afghanistan


The CIS ATC’s representatives took part in the 38th meeting of the working group on Afghanistan at the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council in Moscow on December 7, 2023.

The event was attended by the delegations of the CSTO member-states, CSTO Deputy Secretary General S.I. Ordabayev, representatives of the UN RCPDCA, CIS ATC, Coordinating Service of CIS Council of Border Troops Commanders and SCO RATS.

The participants discussed the current situation in Afghanistan, expressed their concern over the security in the Central-Asian region amid the maintained high concentration of terrorist organizations in the country, noted a risk of terrorist activity transfer to the CIS territory and proliferation of radical ideas in the Internet by the terrorist organizations.

Special attention was paid to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Afghanistan which boosts the risks of a destabilized environment in the country and in the neighboring states of the Central Asian region.
