The CIS ATC’s experts took part in the regional consultations on “Countering the Use of Cryptocurrencies to Finance Terrorism” organized by the UN Office for Counter-Terrorism and UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan on November 14, 2023.
The meeting was attended by the representatives the governmental authorities, investigation units, think tanks and business structures of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and India; international organizations including UNOCT and CTED, EAG Secretariat, OSCE, INTERPOL, SCO RATS EC.
In her statement the Center’s representative spoke of countering the use of cryptocurrencies for unlawful purposes and terrorism financing.
The participants discussed practical steps to ensure efficient counteraction to movement of virtual assets for the purpose of terrorism, exchanged lessons learnt and best practices.
