A representative of the CIS ATC took part in a seminar on combating the use of virtual assets for financing of terrorism, organized by the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism, UN Office of Counter-Terrorism and Federal Service for Financial Monitoring of the Russian Federation on September 5, 2023 within the framework of the 3rd EAG Forum in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The seminar focused on identifying and tracking cryptocurrency transactions and identifying the owners of cyber-wallets who make illegal financial transactions.
The experience of financial intelligence units of Belarus, India, Kazakhstan and Russia in combating crimes committed using information and communication technologies was presented for the event participants.
The CIS ATC’s representative made a report on the assessment of terrorist threats in the Commonwealth area, trends of their transformation and development.
The seminar participants discussed draft recommendations on combating the use of virtual assets in financing of terrorism scheduled for approval at the final meeting of the Forum.
