A representative of the CIS ATC took part in the UN-EAG-Rosfinmonitoring seminar on combating the use of virtual assets for criminal and terrorism financing purposes.
The event, chaired by the Director of the Department for New Challenges and Threats of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was also attended by representatives of the UN, EAG, SRPFR, SCO RATS, officials of governmental and law enforcement agencies, financial intelligence units of the EAG and CIS countries, tutors and graduate students of scientific and educational institutions.
The seminar participants exchanged best practices in regulating and combating the criminal use of virtual assets, including for terrorism financing, and were acquainted with the latest technologies for tracking virtual currency transactions and identifying owners of a crypto-wallet.
The Center’s representative presented a report on assessment of terrorist threats to the CIS region, and possible directions for their transformation and development.
