A meeting of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center’s Head Mr. Evgeny Sysoev and Assistant Secretary-General – Executive Director of UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate Ms. Natalia Gherman was held in the CIS ATC’s Headquarters on July 18, 2023.
The Assistant Secretary-General expressed gratitude for the Center’s active participation in the assessment visits conducted by CTED to the Central Asian member-states and specialized events, including the statement of the Center’s Head at the UN Open Briefing on Central Asia held in December last year.
N.M. Gherman noted the high quality of the CIS ATC’s analytical products sent to the CTED, including those used to prepare reports for the Counter-Terrorism Committee, and thanked the Center for the Russian translation of the materials elaborated by CTED and distributed among the member-states.
The Head of Center highlighted the leading role of the United Nations in countering terrorism and the importance of the tasks solved by CTED, and confirmed commitment to further active participation of the CIS ATC in the CTED’s events.
The parties discussed the state and results of their joint efforts and prospects of further development of cooperation.
