First Deputy Head of CIS ATC Zhanat Saypoldaev took part in the UN side-event on implementation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation's Convention on Countering Extremism on June 21, 2023. The event was organized on the margins of the Third UN High-Level Conference on Counter-Terrorism held in New York, USA.
The event was chaired by Under-Secretary General, Head of UN Office on Counter-Terrorism Vladimir Voronkov.
A two-panel discussion offered an opportunity to exchange best practices in countering extremism. Statements were made by SCO RATS EC Director R. Mirzaev, experts of specialized agencies of China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
CIS ATC's representative delivered his statement at the second session dedicated to efficient regional initiatives and mechanisms of inter-state cooperation in fight on terrorism and extremism.
Zh. Saypoldaev briefed the participants about the status and results of cooperation between CIS ATC and SCO RATS, as well as promising lines of mid-term partnership improvement.
