The 7th meeting of the standing expert group of the CIS ATC, RATS-SCO and CSTO Secretariat was held at the headquarters of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure Executive Committee in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan on February 21, 2023.
The CIS Anti-Terrorism Center's delegation was led by deputy head of the Center Major-General Pavel Tikhonov.
The meeting reviewed the situation in counter-terrorism and counter-extremism field and trends of its development in the organizations' areas of responsibility, as well as activities implemented to neutralize the threats posed by international terrorist organizations operating in Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq.
The parties noted active use of contemporary information-communication technologies by terrorist organizations and agreed to hold expert consultations to exchange best practices in countering destructive narratives in the Internet.
The next group meeting is scheduled for the second half of 2023 under the chairmanship of CIS ATC.
