CIS ATC participated in CTED’S online technical session


Representatives of CIS ATC took part in the technical session on “Threats posed by misuse of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) by terrorists” organized by the Executive Directorate of the Counter-Terrorism Committee on 16 and 19 September, 2022.

The online session attended by almost 100 participants from the member-states and international organizations offered an opportunity to listen to the expert reports of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), AQ/ISIL/Taliban Monitoring Team of 1267/1989/2253 Sanctions Committee and 1988 Sanctions Committee, World Customs Organization, UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, INTERPOL, UN Office on Drugs and Crimes, representatives of research institutes and think tanks.

The meeting attendees discussed a wide range of issues related to terrorist use of unmanned aerial systems, developments in UAS deployment and use for law enforcement and border security purposes, as well as developing of multidimensional responses to threats posed by misuse of UASа.

The meeting participants noted a necessity to employ capacities of international, regional and sub-regional cooperation to enhance exchange of information on possible use of UAS for CT protection and security of facilities and events.
