CIS ATC attended a presentation ceremony of a debut book of the “Common state library” publishing project

Deputy head of CIS ATC P.V. Tikhonov attended a presentation ceremony of the book “Defending the Motherland” of the Common State Library publishing project which took place in Panorama Museum “Battle of Borodino”, Moscow on September 9, 2022.

The publication was presented by the State Secretary of the Common State Dmitry Mezentsev and Chair of the Russian Historical Society Sergey Naryshkin.

“When we started thinking of a new literature-publishing, large-scale, multi-volume project, the idea was to make every book of the series which we would offer to the readers not just a set of new facts in a single cover. It should have been a reason and an invitation for hundreds of thousands of people to discuss and understand the pages of the history common for us and Belarus,” Dmitry Mezentsev noted.

According to him, the collection included unique materials, most of which were published for the first time. He also reminded that the first book of the project was published on the initiative of the ministers of foreign affairs of Belarus and Russia V.V. Makey and S.V. Lavrov.

The book “Defending the Motherland” collected unique historical materials dedicated to the feats of arms of the Brest, Vitebsk, Minsk, Mogilev and Polotsk infantry regiments during the 1812 Patriotic War.

The presentation ceremony of the first Common State Library collection was attended by the Russian and Belarus statesmen, diplomats and scientists.
