Head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center Colonel General E.S. Sysoev attended the Fourth meeting of the Ministers of Interior and Public Security of the SCO member-states, which was held in Tashkent on August 18, 2022.
The event participants exchanged their views on a wide range of issues of international and regional security. They noted a necessity in consolidating efforts in countering terrorism, extremism and separatism, as well as a fight on transnational organized crime amid the growing international instability.
The heads of delegations discussed information exchange on the fugitives involved in the crimes of terrorist, extremist and separatist nature, as well as countering criminal use of information-communication technologies.
The parties shared their practice of ensuring public security during sanitary-quarantine activities undertaken to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.
The ministers expressed their willingness to develop cooperation in the field of training and exchange regulatory legal acts, scientific-methodological and other materials.
In his statement the Center’s Head noted that the today’s situation was characterized significant rise of threat which may have a destabilizing effect on the developing public-political environment both in the countries of “Shanghai family” and in the CIS area. Their formation keeps to be influenced by international terrorist organizations operating close to the Central Asian region borders.
He stressed that efficient counteraction to contemporary challenges and threats was possible through consolidation of the entire international community, including competent authorities and specialized international organizations, under the UN auspices. “In this regard we attach special attention to the development of cooperation with SCO RATS. Regular meetings of the executives of the Executive Committee and the Center contribute to improvement of exchange of information-analytical materials, participation in expert and scientific-practical events”, the ATC’s Head said.
The event was held in a business-like and constructive environment, in the atmosphere of mutual trust and cooperation.
