An on-line meeting of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center’s Head E.S. Sysoev and UN Under-Secretary General, Head of Office of Counter-Terrorism V.I. Voronkov took place on March 22, 2022.
Views were exchanged on topical issues of global and regional security, including the situation in Afghanistan. The parties informed each other of their international counter-terrorism events scheduled for this year and expressed interest in participating in them.
Vladimir Voronkov noted the CIS ATC’s active involvement in the UNOCT’s endeavors, including High-Level International Conference “Regional cooperation of the countries of Central Asia under the Joint Action Plan for the implementation UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy” held in Tashkent and regional training on "Strengthening Cross-Border Cooperation and Information Sharing to Interdict Terrorist Travel in Central Asia" in Istanbul.
The meeting participants commended the current level of cooperation between the CIS ATC and UNOCT, stressed the necessity in strengthening cooperation amid the rising threats posed by the international terrorist organizations, and expressed their readiness to develop the working contacts and make the signed in 2018 Memorandum of Understanding substantial.
