On 14-15 September the delegation of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center upon the invitation of the Albanian OSCE Chairmanship and OSCE Secretariat took part in the annual OSCE-Wide Counter-Terrorism Conference 2020 on “Effective Partnerships against Terrorism and Violent Extremism and Radicalization that lead to Terrorism”. The objectives of the Conference were as follows:
- To foster continued international and regional co-operation on counter terrorism matters;
- To support multi-agency co-ordination at the national level to address terrorism and VERLT and to encourage all OSCE participating States and Partners for Co-operation to mainstream partnerships in their national strategies and actions plans;
- To underline the importance and added-value of effective partnerships with a broad spectrum of civil society and the private sector in P/CVERLT.
The Center’s First Deputy Head Zh. Saipoldayev made a statement during Session 2 “Building a Broader Community Network to Support the Prevention of Violent Extremism and Radicalization that Lead to Terrorism” in which he highlighted the CIS ATC’s experience of networking with scientific institutions and civil society organizations as part of the efforts aimed at countering terrorism and extremism.
