The CIS ATC’s delegation led by its Head Evgeny Sysoev took part in the 8th regional meeting of the heads of border agencies of the CIS member-states in Khiva, Republic of Uzbekistan on March 28, 2024.
In his statement the CIS ATC’ Head highlighted a complex situation in countering terrorism and extremism which tends to deteriorate amid the international tensions.
Evgeny Sysoev informed the meeting participants of the joint work of the security agencies and special services of the Central Asian region and Russia in combating terrorism and extremism, stressed the need in further improvement of the counterterrorism system and building-up of cooperation among the CIS competent authorities and CIS bodies.
The heads of delegations commended the role of the Border troops commanders’ council as an efficient interstate platform for elaborating and implementing consolidated approaches to border security and stressed a need to use the Council’s capacities to further build multilateral cooperation in the border security field.
