CIS ATC participates in working Meeting on outcomes of joint special border operations

 

On February 21, 2024, Deputy Head of CIS ATC Aibek Kutmanov took part in the working meeting of representatives of CIS member-states’ border troops, CIS partner bodies and working structures of the international organizations on outcomes of joint special border operations (JSBO) conducted in 2023 and plans of their preparations and conducts in 2024.

The event was also attended by representatives of border agencies of 7 member-states (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), 5 CIS bodies (Executive Committee, Office for Coordinating Fight on Organized Crime, Committee of heads of law enforcement units of the Council of Custom Services’ Heads, secretariats of Coordinating Council of Prosecutor Generals and Council of Heads of Migration Authorities), 3 CSTO bodies (Secretariat, Joint Staff and Executive Committee of Coordinating Council of Heads of Competent Authorities for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking), SCO RATS Executive Committee.

The meeting reviewed the outcomes of JSBOs Zapad-2023 and Marzbon-2023 and a procedure of preparation and conduct of JSBOs in the current year. The participants were acquainted with the practice of preventive, search and special operations conducted by the CIS bodies and international organizations.

In his statement the Center’s Deputy Head noted importance of JSBOs as part of assistance for the CIS member-states in conducting interstate search of wanted persons who committed terrorist and extremist offences and expressed his confidence that continued cooperation of the CIS ATC and Coordinating Service of Border Troops Commanders’ Council would facilitate further efficiency of joint efforts in ensuring security in the CIS space.
