Head of CIS ATC Colonel General Evgeny Sysoev took part in the 8th meeting of the Council of Heads of Penitentiary Services of the CIS member-states, chaired by the Kazakhstan side on December 8, 2023.
The event was attended by representatives of penitentiary authorities of 7 Commonwealth states (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), the Executive Committee and the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center.
During the meeting the participants discussed the situation in the penitentiary sector in the CIS member-states, best practices of the penal system of the Commonwealth countries and measures to improve their activities, as well as current issues of interstate cooperation. The meeting approved the draft Agreement on the training of personnel for penitentiary services.
In his statement the Center’s Head informed the Council members about the situation in the field of counter-terrorism, the results of interaction between the CIS ATC and the penitentiary authorities of the Commonwealth countries, and emphasized the importance of strengthening and developing cooperation between the Center and the Council.
