The CIS Anti-Terrorism Center's delegation led by its Head Colonel General E.S. Sysoev attended the meeting of the CIS IPA Council and 56th Plenary Meeting of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly in Bishkek on November 16- 17, 2023.
The event brought together parliament delegations headed by Chair of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis, Deputy Chair of National Assembly of Armenia, Chair of the Republican Council of the National Assembly of Belarus, Chair of Parliament Senate of Kazakhstan, Chair of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chair of Majlisi milli Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan, Chair of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and Deputy
Secretary General of the CIS.
At its meeting the CIS IPA Council reviewed 26 issues, including improvement of legal regulation of counter-terrorism and anti- еxtremism activities.
In his statement the CIS ATC's Head shared information on the state of the Center's cooperation with the CIS IPA by highlighting that a multi-year joint work resulted in adoption by the Assembly of over 50 model legal acts including laws and recommendations on countering terrorism and extremism, border security, security of large-scale sport events, cyber-security, etc.
The work on the draft model law "On Public Security" has almost been completed, E. Sysoev said. Elaboration of model laws on state security, criminal intelligence, counteraction to terrorist and extremist use of autonomous and robotic systems is scheduled in the mid-term.
Following the CIS IPA's plenary meeting which reviewed 10 issues, the Commonwealth parliamentarians adopted a number of model laws, amendments to the model Criminal Code for the CIS member-states with regard to countering financing of terrorism, and recommendations on prevention and suppression of offences related to information technologies; improvement of legal regulation of prevention of illegal activities in water areas of the Commonwealth states; development of cooperation in economic security.
