Ministerial consultations on “Countering new challenges and threats” were held on June 29, 2022 in Minsk under the Plan of multi-level ministerial consultations of the CIS member-states for 2022. The consultations brought together representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Office for Coordination of Fight on Organized Crime, Coordinating Service of the Border Troops Commanders’ Council, Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units, CIS Executive Committee as well as CIS Anti-Terrorism Center.
The meeting reviewed topical issues of strengthening of cooperation between the Commonwealth states both at the political and diplomatic level and at the level of special services and law enforcement agencies, engagement of the CIS states’ citizens into extremist and terrorist activity, as well as combined efforts of the partners to fight on drugs and enhanced control over them within the UN and CIS, cooperation with other international and regional organizations, including CSTO, SCO, CARICC.
The participants noted the need of progressive development of cooperation and coordination of stances of the CIS member-states on countering contemporary challenges and threats, first of all at the international fora. In his statement on multilateral anti-terrorism cooperation the CIS ATC representative informed about the state and results of the Center’s interaction with international and regional structures (UN, OSCE, SCO, CSTO, EAG) in counter-terrorism.
