The Anti-Terrorism Center of the CIS member-states (CIS ATC) and the Council of the Heads of Penitentiary Services of the CIS member-states signed a Protocol of Cooperation on 10 December 2019.
In compliance with the document, the parties agreed within their mandate to co-operate in countering terrorism, extremism in the penitentiary field as well as in other areas of mutual interest.
The Protocol covers exchange of information on the fugitives wanted by the CIS states for terrorist and extremist crimes and kept in custody, provision of consultation assistance as well as joint practical efforts to fight on terrorism and extremism in the detention facilities.
Starting from 2015, a complex of coordinated efforts Tral-Antiterror-Identification has been conducted under the auspices of the CIS ATC jointly with the CIS penitentiary services intended to identify, search and apprehend persons placed on the CIS wanted list and residing in the territory of the Commonwealth states.
