A delegation of the Anti-Terrorism Center of the CIS member-states led by its Head, Colonel General E.S. Sysoev took part in the 53rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS member-states (SORB) in Baku on October 11, 2023.
The Head of the CIS ATC presented the results of the joint anti-terrorism exercise of the competent authorities of the CIS member-states “Eurasia-Antiterror - 2023” (Exercise), which was carried out in coordination with the CIS ATC in pursuance of the Program of Cooperation of the CIS member-states in the fight on terrorism and extremism for 2023-2025, in September this year.
For the first time ever, the Exercise was conducted simultaneously with the Exercise of the competent authorities of the member-states of Shanghai Cooperation Organization integrated by a common concept, situation and location.
The final stage of the Exercise, demonstrating the work of the republican operational headquarters of Kyrgyzstan and the operation aimed to release hostages and neutralize terrorists, was held in Bishkek on September 21.
The Exercise was preceded by the First CIS Conference on Combating Terrorism and Extremism held under the Kyrgyzstan presidency on September 20.
During the Conference the participants exchanged threat assessment and national experience in countering terrorism and extremism, discussed the state of scientific support for these activities and international counter-terrorism cooperation.
Besides, the SORB 53rd meeting reviewed and approved the CIS ATC’s scheduled activities for 2024.
