The Commonwealth of Independent States Anti-Terrorism Center (CIS ATC) jointly with the Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU), which a basic organization for languages and culture of the Commonwealth states, organized an International conference on “Megatrends of world politics: globalization, polarization, extremism” on October 26-28, 2022 in Moscow, Russia.
The conference was intended to invite reputable scientists and practitioners of the Commonwealth member-states for open discussion of burning issues of counter-terrorism and counter-extremism, to strengthen interconnection of science and practice, to promote scientific researches in the subject field, and to bring up civic consciousness and patriotism.

In his welcoming statement the CIS ATC Head E.S. Sysoev noted that the international conferences and student contests traditionally organized in cooperation with the MSLU make an important contribution to the anti-terrorist efforts, enhance the role of scientific, pedagogic and student representatives as well as youth communities.
The event agenda included a plenary meeting, three thematic sessions and a “round table” on the following subjects: “Extremism as a megatrend: ways and means to fight on international terrorism”, “Geo-political, geo-economic and geo-civilization trends of the contemporary world and regional development”, “Aggravation of informational confrontation as an aftermath of globalization: analysis and trends”, “Foreign language political discourse education amid contemporary challenges”.
The delegates presented over 90 reports. The conference discussed improvement of the system of extremism prevention in the youth environment, its research and educational-methodological support, impact of political, social-economic and psychological factors on development of terrorist threats. Special focus was made on counteraction to religious terrorism and extremism, youth involvement into terrorist activity in the media space.
The event brought together representatives of the competent authorities, scientific, educational and public institutions of seven CIS member-states (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), Pakistan, USA and Turkiye, as well as two international organizations (Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Collective Security Treaty Organization).
