A practical table-top exercise, aimed to prepare for the first stage of the joint anti-terrorism drill of the competent authorities of the Commonwealth states “Eurasia-Antiterror - 2023” and organized by the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic on September 6, 2023.
The event brought together representatives of security agencies and special services of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, Secretariat of the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units, and Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

In his opening remarks the First Deputy Head of the CIS ATC Zhanat Saipoldaev informed the participants about modern challenges and threats posed by the activities of international terrorist organizations, and possible trends of their transformation and development. He noted the importance of preventing the transfer of terrorist activity to the territory of the CIS member states, and competent authorities’ work to suppress attempts to further involve the population in terrorist and extremist activities.
During the table-top exercise the participants were informed about the procedure of the first stage of the drill, reviewed typical situational tasks, as well as the capacities and features of collective information systems of the security agencies, special services and law enforcement agencies of the CIS member-states used during coordinated operational investigative activities. They also discussed organization of routine work aimed to ensure security of critical infrastructure facilities, as well as measures to improve their security level.
The “Eurasia-Antiterror - 2023” drill will be held in September this year and is focused on identifying preparation for and preventing commitment of acts of terrorism at the critical infrastructure facilities of the Commonwealth countries.
