JOINT TABLE-TOP EXERCISE "CASPIAN ANTI-TERROR 2021”

Subject of the exercise: “Cooperation of the security services, intelligence agencies and law enforcement authorities of the CIS member-states in identification and suppression of activity of the international terrorist organizations aimed at preparing for and carrying out terrorist attacks on marine infrastructure and oil and gas industry facilities”.

The event was aimed at preparing the officers of the operational units of the CIS competent authorities for coordinated operations on identification of signs of preparation of terrorist attacks on the marine infrastructure and oil and gas industry facilities as well as for their prevention during the first stage of the joint anti-terrorism drill “Caspian Anti-Terror 2021”.

The participants of the joint table-top exercise were acquainted with a general concept and procedure of the drill’s stages; reviewed typical cases of identification and prevention of the plotted terrorist attacks on the marine infrastructure and gas and oil industry facilities, as well as mechanisms of organization of inter-agency and inter-state cooperation during coordinated intelligence operations; clarified algorithms of utilizing capacities of the CIS collective information systems available with the special services.

The table-top exercise was attended by delegations of the security and intelligence services of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as well as of the CIS bodies including Coordinating Service of the Council of the Border Forces Commanders, Secretariat of the Defense Ministers’ Council; Council of the Heads of Financial Intelligence Units; representatives of the Integrated Security Department of the Gubkin’s Russian State University of Oil and Gas.
